The enduring history of redlining across American cities does not make redlining uniquely American. The spectre of this sort of line-making as it surfaces elsewhere, mapping across a geopolitical conversation, haunts at the global scale. Here in this building, suspended somewhere between these works, words and worlds proposed, it feels urgent and timely to consider lines dreamt up, drawn, demanded, deployed. I wonder about lines laid today, tomorrow, yesterday: how they function, where, when, and even why
